Innovative technologies to optimize brain functions
At the Neural Science Institute, we are harnessing the extraordinary power of neuroplasticity to explore new frontiers which address behavioral health issues. Our innovative neuromodulation technology is empowering individuals to embark on transformative journeys towards restoring vibrant health and well-being.
The Neural Science Institute is at the forefront of treating patients for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Depression, Anxiety, PTSD and Insomnia.
Neural Pathway Therapy (NPT) is a proprietary, non-invasive brain stimulation technique which goes to the root of the physical problem in the brain and has significantly improved patient outcomes.
While complementing Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Neural Pathway Therapy lays the groundwork for relieving stress related disorders by stimulating new neural pathways, allowing the body to more easily heal itself.
Steve Jobs ran an ad campaign ‘Think Different’, which is easier said than done. One estimate is that over 90% of our thoughts are the same thoughts we have every day. Most people would like to improve and be better, but our thoughts have created engrained neural patterns.
Some of us have less desirable patterns, which can create challenging behavioral and emotional issues. Neural Pathway Therapy creates new patterns at a biological level so the MAT, CBT and DBT can do their magic at the physiological and psychological levels. When combined with these traditional therapies, Neural Pathway Therapy provides increased favorable long-term outcomes.
Due to the success of Neural Pathway Therapy, we are now extending this modality to treatment centers. We are at a pivotal point where our team can effectively deploy these treatment protocols onsite, delivering faster and much-needed therapeutic relief to both inpatient and outpatient individuals.
What is Neural Pathway Therapy (NPT)?
Neural Pathway Therapy is a precise, and more sophisticated, form of transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS); which has been clinically proven to reset abnormal brain wave patterns. Neural Pathway Therapy provides therapeutic neuromodulation of dysregulated brain functioning linked to symptoms, helping to enhance and accelerate therapeutic improvements.
Neural Pathway Therapy helps normalize the brain, achieve a functional state, and attenuate symptoms. This approach is non-invasive, safe and highly clinically effective. This process is so powerful that neuromodulation technology is used around the globe in many world-renowned medical centers. For the past 15 years, the following institutions conducted extensive research on neurostimulation and integrated it into their clinical practices, establishing this therapy as a viable treatment option for multiple conditions.
The modality is well documented. Between 1984 and 2024, the National Center for Biotechnology Information at the National Institute of Health Library of Medicine listed 9,675 published peer reviewed papers and clinical trials on various forms of tDCS. The Neural Science Institute has synthesized the results of these 40 years of studies to develop efficacious protocols which are unmatched in the industry. Traditional tDCS is effective, but the Neural Pathway Therapy is the next level in the evolution, because it is the only process which combines precisely measured EEG readings, taken several times a minute, with the acquired wisdom from 40 years of peer reviewed studies and clinical trials.
Let's take a moment to consider self-talk as if YOU were the patient. Every day when you wake up, it feels like you're stuck in a repeating loop. Think about the path you choose for your daily trek. Imagine your ideal self is waiting at the top of a hill, and you're starting this journey from base camp. From your current vantage point, you can only see one path to the top.
But what if you had a drone that could reveal multiple paths you couldn't see before? Some paths might be blocked by boulders, some might be dead ends, some might loop back to where you started, some might be treacherous, and some might be scenic with an easy clear path straight to the top. Chances are, you're taking the same path every day—like Groundhog Day. If you're like most people, you tend to choose the same path repeatedly, even though your daily trek choice is actually frustrating and mentally draining. This is the way it is for most people. They too, are stuck in a rut.
Neural Pathway Therapy offers a new perspective, like a drone's vantage point. It opens your mind to new possibilities, by increasing your neuroplasticity, allowing you to choose from different paths. We provide you with the ability to see these new options, so you can truly become your best self.
Benefits of Neural Pathway Therapy Treatment
Our proprietary Pathfinder instrumentation provides an advanced non-invasive form of transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS). We feel that the Pathfinder instrumentation along with our proprietary protocols are the most advanced in the world for integrating neurostimulation with MAT, CBT and DBT to optimize patient improvement.
We have found a more rapid improvement in symptom reduction and more normalization of post-treatment brain maps by adding Neural Pathway Therapy to traditional MAT, CBT and DBT treatment processes. This therapy has allowed patients from ages 6 to 90 years old to achieve better, long lasting treatment outcomes, more rapidly.
A dysregulated brain, as seen in many disorders, not only produces debilitating symptoms but limits the capacity of the individual to meet the demands of everyday life. Our goal at the Neural Science Institute is to help patients improve or optimize brain functioning, providing relief to symptoms and improving one's ability to meet everyday demands.
Often the brain needs additional help to be able to regulate itself better and function in a healthier, more balanced state. Neural Pathway Therapy treatment shows the brain how to regulate better so the brain can learn to do it on its own, and maintain that functional state.
How Does Neural Pathway Therapy Work?
Neural Pathway Therapy is guided by a brain map. First, the brain map is performed to identify dysregulated brainwave patterns linked to symptoms. For example, a brain could be overstimulated which is seen in anxiety disorders, insomnia, OCD; or it could be understimulated as is commonly seen in ADHD.
The brain is literally “stuck” in abnormal patterns that sustain the symptoms and discomfort. Using an imperceptibly mild neurostimulation, Neural Pathway Therapy assists the brain in getting unstuck from those abnormal patterns: this primes it to be retrained more easily into stable, healthier patterns using CBT, DBT and/or MAT as well as other therapeutic modalities.
An additional benefit of the neurostimulation is enhancement of neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to reorganize and form more functional healthier connections). Sometimes the brain map shows such severe abnormalities of dysregulation and imbalances that it can be very difficult for the patient to generate a normal brainwave pattern on its own. When a brain is unable to produce healthier, more functional brainwave patterns, the consciousness attached to it is not satisfactorily present and available to be reinforced with CBT/DBT!
In these cases with the most severe abnormalities and symptoms, Neural Pathway Therapy becomes even more important and essential. Neural Pathway Therapy can bypass this problem by mildly stimulating brain functioning into a healthier balance, which when consciously reinforced by CBT or DBT further stabilizes the improvements.
Benefits of Neural Pathway Therapy
Neural Pathway Therapy trains the brain to have more normalized, functional patterns. It also improves the connectivity of the brain whereby different regions work together better in synchrony, which improves the speed and efficiency of information processing.
Treatment protocols are modified from a repeat brainmap, typically on the tenth session of treatment, as symptoms improve.
All of our treatment protocols are derived from the pre-existing, vast scientific research literature. Over the last several decades there have been many clinical studies in tDCS therapy published in scientific research demonstrating positive clinical improvements.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) was first used to facilitate neuroplasticity and recovery from brain injuries, including strokes. Research has shown tDCS improves SUDs, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD and Insomnia, concentration, working memory, mathematical and language learning skills.
With traumatic brain injury and post-concussive syndrome, there can be neurophysical injury resulting in long-lasting deficits throughout a patient's life, unless neuroplasticity can be improved. We have found this form of neurostimulation treatment to be essential, and life enhancing in these patients.
Everyone’s brain is different and responds at different rates. The brain map on the left is a veteran who retired after 30 years with the USMC. He did 7 combat deployments, was shot, blown up, helicopter crash and more. He had TBI, chronic pain, sleep issues, migraines, anger, depression, double vision and was drinking on average 20 beers a day. For simplicity, green is good and red is bad. The brain map (top view brain scan) is after 10 sessions over 3 weeks. He reported, “I just didn’t feel like drinking anymore.”
